I totally agree with you! This movie is great, and Langella is amazing in it. The score is also phenomenal. I was so glad it finally got released this past year. This is one of my all-time favorite guilty-pleasure movies. Of course, I kind of hate using that term because I do not feel guilty about loving this movie.

Dude! I totally agree...they're not rewriting Casablanca here...it's a fun action movie. People just love to hate on things because it makes them feel better about themselves...like the dude who was talking on his cell in the men's room for some reason (I'm pretty sure you have to be a giant d-bag to talk on your cell in the bathroom, especially at the theater). That's my point; I can listen to the sadest rock song in the world and someone can call me "emo" because of it, when in fact they can enjoy a sad song that may be DISGUISED as an up-tempo pop or rap song and not be able to tell the similarities with the very same sad song I like. Different sound, same message.
Like different religions and prayers across the globe; different words, same message.

People can't point the finger at me for liking Red music and tell me it's Pink, when they like Red music but think that it's Black.
I hope that makes sense.

o.k... i totally understand what you are saying.. however.. with that being said, r&b, soul classical... yes they are describing a "feeling" or "emotion" but thats what music is a representaion of the way the artist feels! but the actually word "emo" and what it classifies is different than just everything that falls under "emo-tional" lyrics... thats the whole reason why i was sayin to look it up.. not to spite you.. but because that word is thrown around soo loosely.. just like the word "PUNK" .. when this happens the word evolves into a whole other meaning and gets percieved as something totally different.. "emo comes from a genre called So-cal" which is typically based from one AREA and towards a certain demographic..
just like post hardcore or "screamo" as they know call it (hence the word emo being thrown around soo loosely" derive from HARDCORE...

and on that note.. "scene kids, or scene butts as they would like to be called." wear skinny jeans. that is right however, it is "fashion core" they do it strickly to follow a trend... obviously skinny jeans were around for quite some time. and now they are massive. a "closet staple".. soo no.. i dont think that ppl who wear them are scene kids.. (which is known as sterotyping) i see them as followers in the fashion trend. (i love skinny jeans!!!! they are actually quite comfortable.. though pricey as hell)

soo to sum it all up!!! im probably rambling to the point were all my thoughts are jumbled up here.. prolly alot of improper sentence structures and a whole lot of spelling mistakes... lol but anyways.. my point was not to SCOLD you but rather to INFORM you of the direction that it has taken. "emo" or emotional music is something totally different than most ppl think. and i can understand your point because of the simplicity of the word and the correlation with modern day lyrics.

I love the pre-mature, incapable of understanding comments you're receiving on this. It's funny how some people can get offended by a slight word that is expelled from the mouth.
Anyways, getting on with what I thought about this.. I do believe what you said is right. Even those upbeat trace and dance songs are composed of beaten and distraught lyrical wonders. Just look at one of the top club songs of this decade, "Now You're Gone" by Basshunter. The whole song is about missing an old lover who's escaped from his life.
The problem is though, it IS disguised. But I take that back. It isn't a problem. If we can talk about heartbreaks and headaches in a light, happy mood, then I think we've progressed somewhat as the human race.
Point is, we have to listen and understand the lyrics we are listening to, not just sing along.
By the way, this seems like it had a little influence on what I was speaking about on Jason Mraz. haha.
